Rochefort-en-Terre Pool

Les Sapins is situated in its own grounds, just 150 metres from the entrance to the Chateau in the historic medieval village of Rochefort-en-Terre, one of the prettiest village in France, where stunning flower displays enhance the beautiful stone and half timbered architecture throughout the year.

On one side of the grounds the tranquil landscaped garden and pool overlook ancient woodland with a path leading to an orchard and a small trout stream, on the other side, step into Rochefort-en-Terre with it's amazing architecture, artisans' workshops, antique shops, cafes, and restaurants.

The self contained ground floor apartment is approached by our driveway with private parking for two cars, and has been recently renovated to a very high standard .

The double room
The large south facing terrace with stone barbeque, sun loungers, and hardwood table and chairs overlooks the swimming pool with a lovely view across the valley to acres of mixed woodland. The wildlife is prolific with countless species of birds, red squirrels in the pine and oak trees, and deer often visible in the woods opposite.

The swimming pool is fitted with a security alarm (but not fenced) is very secluded and measures approximately 30' x 14' plus a roman end with steps. There are ample loungers on the poolside for sunbathing and relaxing and table and chairs to fully enjoy al fresco living! The nearby pool-house/changing room has a fridge for shared use which is convenient for cold drinks.

The jewel in the crown is ROCHEFORT-EN-TERRE. It is a "must see" attraction in Southern Brittany and we have it on our doorstep! Apart from the charm of it's architecture, it offers a variety of fine restaurants, bars, creperies, a pizzeria, and many interesting artisan & antique shops, as well as the beautiful 16th century church.

A short stroll from the apartment is an attractive lake with a walking/jogging or cycling track around its 2 mile circumference. There is also a beach, a childrens playground, a mountain bike course, and fishing areas and pedalos can be hired from a terrace bar by an old water mill with lovely views across the lake.

Within a half hour drive we have the historic and attractive towns and ports of Vannes, Redon and La Roche Bernard plus numerous beaches and other attractive towns, chateaux and villages. Twenty minutes away is the delightful zoological park of Branfere where no animals are in cages. In fact some of the more friendly animals even roam freely amongst the visitors! A great day out for both children and adults.

More practically, in Rochefort-en-Terre there is a mini supermarket with an excellent butcher, baker, newsagent tobacconist, post office, tourist information centre, cash machine, medical centre with chiropodist, chiropractor & masseur, a pharmacy, and there is a doctor and a dentist nearby who both speak good English.

About 5 kms away is the town of Malansac with a large supermarket, a good choice of shops and 2 banks. Approximately 12 kms away is the larger town of Questembert with 2 supermarkets, an indoor swimming pool and a greater choice of shops. Not to be missed is the Monday market set around the medieval market place, a beautifully restored oak-framed building.
